I must say that I have been very content with all of the food that LA/Hollywood has to offer! I've decided to share a few of my favorite places, since those of you who know me well, know that I LOVE food :)
Food Trucks are a huge thing in LA, they're everywhere. I like to follow them around on roaminghunger.com. One that was a block away from my work one day was Truck Norris. The name was enough, I knew I had to go try it out! Not knowing what to expect when I walked up to the little window they had to order, I saw a filipino menu of about 4 different items. I ordered the pork bowl ( I can't remember the actual name, nor do I have a picture of my food, apologies) and it was quite delicious! If you're in LA, search it on the website!
Don't hate me again, but I do not recall the name of this restaurant, because well, I've never been there. These gourmet tacos were brought to us from a friend of Todd and Amy's one day. They're on potato tortillas and there were probably 4 or 5 different kinds, all VERY colorful like this one below. One was shortribs and had these fluorescent pink sliced onions on top. After taking my first bite, I was warned that the onions were soaked in habanero sauce....thanks for the heads up. Definitely the hottest taco I've ever had, but still managed to be packed full of flavor. So good!
"Milk" on Beverly Blvd is where this beauty came from. I would say its an overpriced cafe where apparently the celebs like to show up every once in awhile. This was a $11 sandwich, Turkey BLTC. It had a healthy portion of turkey, crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, aged cheddar and a lemon mayo. Quite delicious if I do say.
Todd and Amy got me a to-die-for chocolate mousse cake from Susina Bakery across the street from us. So great.
I got to cut the cake with this machete of a knife that's actually for sale in the shop. I guess its the only knife we had on hand that would really work. It definitely did the job though! (It is now washed and back on the showroom floor ;) )
Urth Cafe. Definitely my favorite cafe I have been to so far. You're looking at a Grilled Cilantro Chicken with Pesto, and a Caprese Panini. I cannot describe the deliciousness thereof, you'll have to try it for yourself!
Vitos Pizza. A small joint in a shopping mall that serves a hefty slice of NY style pizza. This is the veggie and meat pizzas. The ricotta cheese on top of the veggie paired with the spinach and broccoli was definitely my favorite thing. ( I've been there twice now)
I was looking for a reasonably priced sit down dinner one night and came across Bossa Nova Brazillian Cuisine. Perfect, I love brazillian food and I loved the prices. After fried yucca and cheese bread (pao de queijo), we started with a mixed greens simple dinner salad, moved on to seabass, black beans, rice, farofa (brazillian flour that's good on basically anything!) and smashed plantain (me) and a delicious veggie pasta (Steph) we finished off the course with a classic passion fruit mousse. Took me right back to Brazil. I loved every bite I had that night.
And I continue to eat on...
