Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE!

Today we went to the ultimate old school university, Cambridge... where more smart people have gone than probably anywhere else in the world, hah.

There is so much history there, and it was really interesting to learn about everything. Below are some photos of Kings Chapel, which is totally over the top!

This is one of the best examples of English Fan Vaulted ceilings, pretty awesome!

There are tons of different colleges within Cambridge University, and they're spread out over the whole city. Each college gets their own building and courtyard, this being an example of one of the courtyards. All of the students belonging to that college live around the courtyard in these buildings.

Yup, you guessed it! Remember when Isaac Newton was sitting under an apple tree when an apple fell on his head and he discovered the law of gravity?.... Well this tree is a descendent of that very tree, pretty neat eh?

Ah yes, can't forget about the food of the day. Mostly everyone brought their own lunch from our flat, I did not, so I had to venture off on my own to find some good grub, and that I did. I found an indian place and ended up with some delicious green curry on top of rice and noodles with some some spicy chili sauce on top, it was wonderful, well priced, and left me wanting more!

So after lunch, we all went what they call "Punting". Which is basically just a flat boat propelled by someone standing on the end of the boat using a long poll to push the boat along the river. So we all hopped into two different boats and off we went around some of Cambridge's greatest buildings. Our tour guides were pretty funny, sometimes rather crude however, but for the most part it was a pretty entertaining time!

After we finished with that, we were left on our own for the rest of the day. The group I was with walked around the different shops for another couple hours or so and then we jumped on a train back to London.
